What are the assisted reproduction options for female couples?

The most common options include artificial insemination (AI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), or the ROPA Method (Reception of Oocytes from the Partner), a technique where one woman provides the egg and the other carries the pregnancy.

How are sperm donors selected?

The basic requirements for donors, as specified in Law 14/2006 of May 26 on assisted human reproduction techniques, state that donors must be between 18 and 40 years old, in good physical and mental health, and have no personal or family history of genetic, hereditary, or infectious diseases. The corresponding medical team ensures the highest possible phenotypic and immunological similarity between the available samples and the recipient woman.

What should I expect during the treatment process?

The process will require continuous visits to the clinic, hormone injections, minor surgical procedures, and constant monitoring. It is crucial to be prepared for a comprehensive experience, both emotional and physical.

Is it possible for both women to share a biological bond with the child?

Yes, with the ROPA method, one woman can provide the eggs, and the other can carry the pregnancy, allowing both to have a biological and emotional bond with the child.
